How do you get your traffic fine reduced or removed in court?

My husband was pulled over by a state trooper because his tail light was out He was actually headed to Jiffy Lube to get an oil change where they would have fixed it anyways. The fine is $200. He is planning on fighting it in court-what should he expect? Any advice is appreciated! How do you get your traffic fine reduced or removed in court?
Fix it tickets do not have fines attached unless the violation is not fixed. There's more to this story. How do you get your traffic fine reduced or removed in court?
Boy, there sure is something you are leaving out. If it was a simple tail light out, there would be no charge for the fix it ticket once he got the light replaced and had the ticket signed off by a police officer. How do you get your traffic fine reduced or removed in court?
Not sure what state you are in, but in New York, all I had to do when I got stopped for a tail light was get it fixed, take the receipt and go to the town hall of the town where the ticket was issued and prove I fixed the light----the ticket was expunged...no fine... $200 for a tail light ONLY is a really outrageous fine.... I've never EVER heard of such a thing and I've been driving for over 40 YEARS!!!!!! I got stopped once for a broken HEADLIGHT as well and same thing... prove I got it fixed and the case was tossed.
